Recently a book named Color Zoo by Lois Ehlert came into my hands and I really loved its simplicity and creativity. It uses different combinations of geometrical shapes to create various animals. No words needed, simply thinking outside of the box and standards.
So I really got inspired by this book and wanted to create a replica of one of the animals from it.. Me and Alya decided upon the tiger. The idea developed into a paper plate mask.
What I used:
- 1 paper plate
- 4 colors of crafts paper (blue, orange, red and green)
I cut a circle out of blue sheet big enough to cover the bottom of the plate. Alya assisted with the gluing part. Then we needed an orange square to fit inside the circle. After gluing it over circle, I cut a red triangle to fit inside the square and 6 lines for workers. Additionally I cut a small green triangle to make a nose and 2 circles for ears. Let it dry a bit and cut out the wholes for eyes. The mask it ready and Alya was stuck to the mirror for a while looking at her tiger reflection, roaring and giggling 🙂
