This time I suggested to try painting without a conventional brush, but with different small objects instead. Alya loves activities involving paint, and she immediately went for it with a “let’s do it now!” attitude.
What we used:
- deep cooking tray
- white sheet of paper
- liquid paint
- paper plate
- various small objects of different shape, weight and texture
- duct tape
- paper towels (have a few next to the action area for a fast clean-up)
Secure the paper with duct tape over the bottom of the tray. Squirt few drops of each color on the paper plate. Dip one of your objects in it and generously cover it all with paint – Alya was totally happy to get messy 🙂 .Put the objects in the tray, and start slightly elevating and moving it from side to side, in order to perform the hands free painting. Well, few times hands got involved too 😀 . Repeat over and over again with other objects, until the masterpiece is ready! Alya was really into this experiment. She completely understood the idea of painting without a brush. It was a great experience, which allowed her to discover how objects of different weight or shape behave during painting process. I count it as a success, and will definitely repeat the whole process again with other colors and textures of paper.
